The Three Birds are back, treating us to House 16 to start 2024 with the perfect mood.
This time, it’s personal. House 16 belongs to none other than Erin, one of the titular Three Birds. It’s clear from the beautiful rooms they’ve shared that they’ve put all their heart into this renovation.
“Our vision was for an Urban Farmhouse – a home with lots of classic character and charm, but with all the practical features to make living here a breeze,” they share. This vision is evident throughout the house, from clever adjustments to the floor plan, to furniture and homewares that are both beautiful and functional.
Study in Style
The girls showed their clever eye for versatile design, styling the Australian Made Claremont dining table as a luxe, over-size desk. It's complemented with walls, doors and ceilings drenched in the beautiful Dulux green colour Still. “That room could be one of my favourites,” Bonnie gushed.
Effortless Entertaining
Outside the study, the Biscay set brightens the small courtyard as the perfect option for a morning coffee or afternoon snack.
The Three Birds know how to set a table to remember. With the sparkling Remy coupe glasses, bold Pesce servingware in green and Orion dinner set.
A Touch of Urban
For an effortless flow, take decor elements inside-out. The Three Birds introduced matte black accents into their home for an 'urban' flair. They extended the ribbed detailing from the Edwin Side Table to the Helios Mirror in the powder room, creating a seamless design flow indoors.
Urban Farmhouse Living
Our favourite highlights from their study and outdoor areas include their beautiful selection of outdoor settings. The beautiful Lincoln sofas in hardwearing teak creates the perfect place for the family to relax by the pool on warm summer days.
Living the Life
Erin’s love of entertaining ensured that a seamless transition from the living room to the alfresco area was a high priority, so guests can flow as freely as the drinks.
The other thing you’ll find both inside and out? Freedom furniture pieces, creating a beautiful, cohesive look throughout Erin’s home. Keep reading to hear the Three Bird’s share their favourite Freedom living room items and how they styled them.
The Winner Spinner
“Recognise this chair from House 15? She’s such a beauty and she’s back in this house because you can’t get too much of a good thing! We’ve fondly renamed the Monty Leather Swivel Chair the ‘winner spinner’ because she not only swivels so you never miss what’s going on, but she’s super comfy too - an absolute winner.”
Curved Couch
“The stunning Lune boucle sofa works wonders in this open-plan living space because its curved edges make it give the illusion of more space to walk around it and it works to define the living space. We needed a sofa that would be comfy enough to lounge on whilst not dominating this space and Lune does it perfectly.”
A Couple of Calvins
“Although the Calvin occasional chairs are armless, the wide rectangular seats and broad backs offer generous space to sit comfortably. We picked these for their slim legs that let you look right under the chairs and don’t block the view to the outdoors. The black powder-coated metal frame is the perfect pop of black for this space and matches the dark accents we added throughout the home.”
A Trio of Tables
“Coffee tables and side tables need not be matchy-matchy but they must complement each other and these ones do the job nicely!
The Papilla Nesting Coffee Tables add a touch of sophistication to any room while The Champy Side Table is a cute white concrete table, meticulously handcrafted by experienced artisans that’s versatile and can be moved around as needed.”
The Ultimate Outdoor Dining Setting
“For the alfresco area, we chose the gorgeous Cannes dining table and benches because we love the rustic design and relaxed feel and the benches are great to maximise seating when entertaining.
We popped a Cannes armchair at each end of the table to complete the setting.”
