Rug ‘n’ roll
Step into one of your rooms at home, does it  feel like something’s missing? If the floor is bare or there’s something amiss under a big furniture item like a sofa, bed or dining table then that  item is most definitely a rug. The impact the perfect rug can have on the look and feel of a room is underrated. And you’re in luck, Freedom offers an incredible array of styles in all sizes, shapes and textures for every room in the house.

Bedroom rugs
Bedrooms need to be cosy and rugs are a great way to add warmth to screed, tiled or wooden floors. A large rug placed beneath the bedanchors the room while keeping you warm and insulating the space from the ground up. The Romain floor rug is a great example – neutral colours and soft to the touch, it’s timeless and understated. Another great styling idea for larger bedrooms is to lay two runners on either side of the bed, this look balances the room and creates a formal finish. The Lifestyle Collection runner rug is a good choice with its classy Persian design and durability that stands up to regular  foot traffic. A traditional look for bedroom rugs is one placed in front of the bed, which suits longer, narrower rooms. Try a large rug here in a bold colour or pattern and allow half of it to lie beneath either the bed, or underneath a storage chest or dresser.

Kitchen rugs
Kitchen rugs have to be hardier by nature to withstand all the traffic and spills the room experiences. If your kitchen is a long galley style room, try a runner in front of the sink or island bench  for comfort underfoot and to catch any spills. The Madras runner is made from the ideal material for this job – jute – which is super hardwearing and full of texture. The Madras is also available as a round rug. This less conventional shape adds extra character to a large kitchen, especially when placed beneath a small kitchen table. A large modern kitchen can accommodate a big, rectangular rug. We recommend something in a dark colour for a contemporary bold look, like the Scarborough floor rug in charcoal.

Living room rugs
Living rooms tend to be the most popular spot for a statement rug. Here, you are spoilt for style, colour palette and layout choices. Make a statement with the graphic  Halcion floor rug with its playful tassels. This rug works particularly well in minimalist spaces where it draws the eye to the centre of the room. Pick up the warmth of flames with a muted but colourful choice like the Cabarita floor rug. Its plush feel and Persian inspired print complement traditional spaces but its palette brings modern themes to life. Remember to keep the front legs of your chairs and sofas on top of the rug in order to anchor it and avoid that “floating rug” appearance. Extra large rugs are ideal for this purpose, especially in an open plan area.

Entryway rugs
The entrance hall or area of your home should set the tone for the interior design of your entire house. A rug will help here and provide a fun opportunity to play with colour, pattern and texture. A small space can still benefit from a pop of colour like the Aaliya with its Persian-inspired pattern. Anchor this with a small console table and bowl to collect keys. Longer spaces in more traditional homes will suit a muted runner like the Alcati. Inspired by the East, its vintage luxe feel creates a welcoming path to the rest of the house. Spot the area in your home that’s longing for a rug and get it today, knowing you can pay later with flexible options like Afterpay and ZipPay.
