OLD MEETS NEW

The former Block contestants, Josh & Jenna, left their inner-city life behind to move to a crumbling country home, affectionately named the ‘Castle’, in regional Victoria. Putting their renovation and styling experience, they have transformed their heritage abode, complete with a new extension perfect for family life.

THE LIVING ROOM

Josh & Jenna have blended neutrals to create a serene place to relax. The hero of the room is their Sorrento modular sofa, providing a focal point of comfort and relaxation. The dark Graphite upholstery grounds the light and airy space. An oversized rug defines the area and ensures warmth and cosiness.

THE DINING ROOM

Fully embracing Australian open living, Josh & Jenna have positioned their dining area between the kitchen and living spaces to create a hub for conversation and connection. The Roundhouse dining table and wicker chairs are a thoughtful and contemporary nod to the farmhouse heritage of the house. An increasingly popular choice, round dining tables are ideal for enhancing flow and maximising space.

DOUBLE BEDROOM

A curated palette of warm whites, soft greens and pastel pinks create continuity between old and new. Together, they create a harmonious and contemporary bedroom sanctuary that makes the most of natural lighting. Jenna says, “soft green panelling and trims alongside warm white walls, provide a great canvas for art and bridge the bold colours with the neutral addition. This same soft green is used on the VJ walls in the addition that spans from the kitchen to the bedroom, subtly connecting the different architectural styles.”

THE RUMPUS

The 'rumpus' room is a multifunctional zone that will evolve and grow with the family. It will be a place to play, gather, relax and enjoy. The very purple of this room is to create a cosy and comfortable breakaway zone from the main living area.
A combination of built-in joinery and loose furniture was used to create a flexible living space to achieve the balance of old and new.

GUEST BEDROOM

The juxtaposition between old and new highlights and enhances the difference to make each piece so much more special. When looking at incorporating old and new, use the commonality of either material, shape or colour to bring it all together.

Josh and Jenna opted for floor boards to maintain the heritage look of the home and added a large rug for comfort and cosiness.
