Bedroom Bliss

We spend more than one-third of our lives asleep, so isn’t it time you reclaimed your bedroom as your own haven of relaxation and romance?

  1. Choose your look:
When you’re looking to change the look of your bedroom, start with a strong foundation piece – your bed. Choosing a bed comes down to personal choice, some of us like an ensemble others like a bed head and frame. When choosing timbers think about your own style preference: if you’re after that cool coastal, Hamptons-esque look then opt for whitewashed timbers or light hues; if you’re after a more dramatic, sensual feel then choose dark timbers or even leather.

  2. Sound sleep:
No matter what type of bed you choose it’s important to invest in a good quality mattress. And Freedom’s Classic Rest mattress range has taken all the guesswork out of shopping for a mattress because the Freedom range are all engineered using the same high-quality continuous coil springs for proper body-correct support. All you have to do is choose your comfort level: firm, medium or plush?

  3. To sleep, to dream:
Once you’ve decided on your bed style and comfort level the real fun begins.

  4. Bespoke Bedroom:
Give your bedroom a style update by mixing things up a little. A unique stool, cool dining chair or shelving ladder instead of a bedside table. Add your own personal touches, framed photos, candles, heirloom pieces. Make sure they’re pieces that matter.

You can play it safe by matching your bedroom furniture, but be sure to break-up the theme with different colours, textures, layers, and add a focal piece like an armchair or daybed.

  5. Mood Lighting:
Add table lamps to create ambience, make sure you choose the right watt-age, you want your bedroom lighting to be just right – it needs to be flattering after all!

  6. Style Up, Pile Up:
For a really luxe look, pile up blankets, throws and scatter cushions for a beautifully layered look. To give your bed a boutique hotel look stack an additional pillow on top of your sleep pillows. It instantly gives your bed that sophisticated hotel look.

  7. Create Calm:
Choose muted soft tones – warm neutrals, cool blues, soft greys to create a encourage an undisturbed slumber.

  8. Check In:
Choose good quality linen in a colour to suit your palette. The higher the thread count, the better the quality. When choosing bed linen, for Summer, white is a timeless classic. Easy to maintain and keep looking crisp and clean, you can inject some colour with a stack of accent cushions, or a bright throw.

  9. House Rules:
If you’ve retreated to your new haven of sleep - do not disturb!
